This Privacy Policy is designed to provide clarity about the information Raize collects and how we use it. By accepting our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service in registration, you consent to our collection, storage, use and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.

If you are registering for or participating in a Raize sweepstakes contest, participation is subject to our Official Sweepstakes Rules and Regulations and any other rules and regulations applicable to such competition (collectively, Rules). If this Policy conflicts with or is inconsistent with a statement in the Rules concerning your privacy, the Rules will apply.

1.  Introduction

Raize is a technology platform that provides an efficient and cost-effective way to raise money for charity.  Collectively, Raize describes its activities, including its website (“Site”), software, and applications, as its service for end users (the “Service”).

This Privacy Policy describes:

  • the information we collect, how we do so and the purposes of our collection
  • how we use and with whom we share such information
  • how you can access and update such information
  • the choices you can make about how we collect, use and share your information
  • how we protect the information we store about you

If you have questions regarding this Privacy Policy or our collection and use of information, please contact us as described in Section 19 (“Contact Us”).

If Raize offers you the ability to access our Service from a third party site or service (“TPS”) or a social networking site such as Facebook (“SNS”), you may also be required to also read and accept that TPS or SNS Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to use our Service.

This Privacy Policy is one portion of our Terms of Service, found [here], which governs your use of the Service.  Any disputes arising out of or relating to this Privacy Policy will be dealt with as outlined in our Terms of Service.

2.  Information We Collect

Raize may collect two types of information from users of our Services: “personal information” you voluntarily provide (such as name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, etc.) and “aggregate information” (such as frequency of visits to any of the Site, search terms entered, Site pages most frequently accessed, browser type, etc.) We use this information in an effort to improve your experience on the Site and to communicate with you about information that you request. We may also use this information to help us target specific services or offers to you, to help us develop and improve our Site, and to tailor our Site to your interests.

3.  Collecting and Using Your Information

Personal Information

Raize only collects personal information that is voluntarily provided when users sign up for the Site or other Services. This may include such personal information as your name, address, social service connectors, email address, etc. We may also request PayPal payment account information which we maintain in encrypted form on secure servers. We may use the information that you provide to us to communicate with you about our current activities, future events and sweepstakes or to notify you about any changes to our Services. If you decide that you would no longer like to receive such messages you can opt-out from receiving such emails from Raize.

Aggregate Information

Raize also collects aggregate information, which is non-personally identifiable information about you, such as frequency of visits to the Site, search terms entered, browser type, etc. Aggregate information is used in a collective manner, and no single person can be identified by that compiled information. Raize may use aggregate information to provide its services and remuneration, as well as to determine the use of our Site and to monitor, audit and analyze information pertaining to our business metrics.

4.  Sharing, Selling, and Trading Your Information with Third Parties

Personal Information

Raize does not share, rent, sell or disclose personal information to third parties, except as described in this Privacy Policy. Raize shares personal information with our parents and subsidiaries, and on occasion, we may share personal information with third party service providers, such as “white label partners” and credit card processing companies. These third party service providers are not authorized to retain, share, store or use your personal information for any purposes other than to provide the services for which they have been hired to provide. In addition, in order to protect against potential fraud, we may verify with third parties the personal information you provide when you sign up for an account. In the course of such verification, we may receive personal information about you.

In the following circumstances, Raize may elect to share or transfer your personal information to unrelated third parties: (i) to comply with a legal requirement, judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on Raize, (ii) to investigate a possible crime, such as fraud or identity theft; (iii) in connection with the sale, purchase, merger, reorganization, liquidation or dissolution of Raize; (iv) when we believe it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Raize or other persons, or (v) as otherwise required or permitted by law.

It should be noted that on some portions of the Site, users can choose to have their personal information displayed. If users choose to have their personal information displayed on the Site(s), they will be given forewarning that the action they are about to take will make their personal information publicly available on the Site(s).

Aggregate Information

We may share, sell or trade with third parties aggregated, non-personal information, such as the number of users who searched for a particular term, for example, or how many users clicked on a particular advertisement. Such information does not identify you individually.

5. Contests/Sweepstakes

If you enter a sweepstakes, whether by making a donation or using an alternate method of entry, or make a donation in connection with entering into a sweepstakes, you agree that we may share your name and contact information with the charity we designate as the benefiting charity for such sweepstakes and with any entity providing prizes for that sweepstakes, who may use your information for marketing purposes.

By entering into a sweepstakes, you grant us the right to disclose name, biographical information, pictures/portraits, video images, likenesses and/or voice to the general public if you are a sweepstakes winner.

6. Social Features & User Content

On the Site, we may provide social features such as commenting or message boards for visitors to post comments and messages for others to read, or allow users to post their own content to certain areas within the Site. We may collect technical information about such posts, such as the IP address from which you posted, and associate this information with your messages or content. Even if posts are deleted, we may retain copies and attendant information indefinitely.

When you post messages or content on our Site, certain information, such as your email address, user name and/or full name, may be available to the public. Also note that any personal information you include in your post will be available to the public so it is important for you to exercise discretion and appropriate caution when deciding to reveal personal information in these areas.

5. Cookies

Cookies are pieces of information which websites transfer to your computer’s web browser for storage on your computer’s hard drive. When you visit the Site, we may place one or more cookies on your computer to uniquely identify your browser. We may use cookies to improve the quality of our service by storing user preferences and tracking user trends, such as how people blog. We store minimal personal information in cookies and protect this information. We do not store complete records or credit card numbers in cookies. You may choose to set your computer to not accept cookies, but some features and services on the Site may not function properly if your cookies are disabled.

6. Cross-Border Transfer

8. Notice to California Residents

Subject to certain limits under California Civil Code §1798.83, California residents may ask us to provide them with (i) a list of certain categories of personal information that we have disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes during the immediately preceding calendar year, and (ii) the identity of those third parties. To make this request, California residents may contact us as specified in the “Contact Us” section below.

9. Do Not Track Policy

Our Site is not designed to respond to “do not track” signals received from browsers.

10. Use of Pixel Tags/Clear GIFs/Web Beacons

A pixel tag, also known as a clear GIF or web beacon, is an invisible tag placed on certain pages of our Site but not on your computer. When you access these pages, pixel tags generate a generic notice of that visit. They usually work in conjunction with cookies, registering when a particular computer visits a particular page. If you turn off cookies, the pixel tag will simply detect an anonymous website visit.

11. Security Pertaining to Your Information

We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. These include internal reviews of our data collection, storage, and processing practices, and introducing security measures, including physical security measures, to guard against unauthorized access to systems where we store personal data.

We restrict access to personal information to Raize affiliates, employees, service providers and agents who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our services. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations. We use secure socket layer (“SSL”) technology to encrypt and protect the security of your personal information, including but not limited to your credit card number, when it is sent over the Internet. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. IN NO EVENT WILL RAIZE OR ITS SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES OR ANY PARTY INVOLVED IN CREATING, PRODUCING OR DELIVERING THE SITE BE LIABLE IN ANY MANNER WHATSOEVER FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, INDIRECT, SPECIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR ACCESS, USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SITE, OR IN CONNECTION WITH ANY FAILURE OF PERFORMANCE, ERROR, OMISSION, INTERRUPTION, DEFECT, DELAY IN OPERATION OR TRANSMISSION, COMPUTER VIRUS OR LINE OR SYSTEM FAILURE (INCLUDING LOSS PROFITS, LOSS OF BUSINESS OR DATA, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, AND DAMAGES THAT RESULT FROM INACCURACY OF THE INFORMATION OR INCONVENIENCE, DELAY, OR LOSS OF THE USE OF THE SITE). THE FOREGOING LIMITATIONS APPLY WHETHER THE ALLEGED LIABILITY IS BASED ON CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE STRICT LIABILITY OR ANY OTHER BASIS, EVEN IF RAIZE OR ITS AFFILIATES OR ANY OTHER PARTY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

12. Integrity of Your Data

Raize processes personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected and in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We review our data collection, storage and processing practices to ensure that we only collect, store and process the personal information needed to provide or improve our services.
